Volunteer Profile: Ignacio Bonell

Hi everybody! My name is Nacho and I am 30 years old. I come from Barcelona, where I studied Political Science. Grown in a big city, I soon realized that I was looking for a different lifestyle, less stressful, more connected to nature and more friendly with the environment… With this purpose, I participated in a volunteering project in a little farm in Paraná (Brazil) for three months.

After living and working for several years in the city, I already decided to move to the countryside. I feel ready and motivated to start thinking on my own future away from the city, trying to live a more sustainable life and to get in deeper touch with nature.

Initiative et Développement Citoyen has given me the opportunity to know and learn from an ongoing project, so the day I start my own one, I can take advantage of the months and the experience lived here. I am thankful for this opportunity and ready for the challenge of living in a rural community guided for ecological values. My concrete expectations, besides the general experience, are specially to learn more about agriculture and gardening, so in the future, I can plant and eat my own fruits and vegetables, and learn more about sustainability and which specific actions can we take in our daily life to reduce our impact on the environment. I can also share with the project my knowledge and experience in social media management and web content.

It also motivates me the idea of sharing this experience from volunteers of other parts of Europe, so we can exchange all kind of useful ideas and information, we can practice other languages, learn other culinary recipes, or simply discover together the surroundings hiking, biking, or walking the dogs.
