Number of volunteers: 3
Dates: from the 24th of March to the 31st of December 2021
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
As a whole, this project wishes to promote commitment, ledearship, autonomy and resilience in order to make our daily life more ethical. The current crises (health, environmental and social) require us to think about how within our daily lives we must promote respect for the environment and living together. This is why the personal and professional development of the volunteer are at the center of our objectives. Volunteers will experience a quality intercultural learning and an openness to the world, having the chance to free themselves from judgements. In terms of activities, we have 3 categories: Environment (educational mini farm, natural gardening, waste reduction, mushroom farm, eco-construction courses), Interculturality and Mobility of young Europeans (intercultural events & workshops, promotion of volunteering…), and Communication (web development, social media, content creator, photography and video, graphic design).
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
IDC is located in a small town,18km from Carcassonne where the nearest airport and train station are (the volunteers will be picked from there and will be taken to the camping). This region is rural, living mainly from wine farming and tourism. The cathar Castles of Lastours are just in front us, and around the area there are other castles and touristic places. Accomodation: volunteers will stay in mobile homes, in shared-rooms, usually with another volunteer of the same sex. Food: the food will be bought twice per month, and volunteers will take turns to cook healthy and low-impact food!
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
The volunteers will be supported by our staff of professionals, who will guide them in order to achieve a succesfull accomplishment of the tasks. Depending on their tasks and responsabilities, they will receive instructions and formations to work, for example: on the garden, cooking team, compost and waste management, communications, organization of events, animal care… There will also be general workshops proposed both from IDC and the volunteers, usually about sustainability, low-impact food, zero waste, property of plants, yoga, health, sport, art, dance, among others.
