Done by our ESC long term volunteering Yannick Van de Klundert, from the Netherlands.
It’s interesting to see that almost all volunteers are fans of chocolate-hazelnut spread (we will avoid to tell the names of the two more populars in Europe :p). I mean, it’s good! But they are industrialized products from big companies that pollute the planet, contribute to bad social and work conditions and to a degeneration of people’s health. We had to say it! So why not making your own? And consume in a bit more ethical way, something that you really like and enjoy. So here a simple and delicious recipe to do you own “No-tella”:
Recipe NO-tella:
Ingredients:
200 grams (roasted) hazelnuts
30 grams icing sugar
25 grams cocoa
125 grams dark chocolate
Requirements:
- Oven
- Food processor
Preparation:
Haven’t found any roasted hazelnuts? Then preheat your oven to 180 degrees hot air and roast the hazelnuts on a baking sheet for eight to twelve minutes.
Put the hazelnuts in a food processor and let it run for about five minutes, until the nuts become liquid. The finer the liquid hazelnuts are, the better.
In the meantime, finely chop the chocolate.
Then add the icing sugar, cocoa and chocolate to the hazelnuts in the food processor. Mix this well for 3 minutes. Don’t worry: the chocolate will melt by itself.
Put the hazelnut paste in a clean jar.
Enjoy your NO-tella!
