Second Chance Project!

For the waste, for the world!

This is the site of our volunteering team ESC project of 2021: Second Chance. 16 volunteers, 4 different countries, 59 days to collect and create from waste. Do you want to know more about this adventure? Check our videos, blog entries and follow our work of reusing and transforming waste.

The project

Natural disasters, extreme weather, deforestation and more is due to the overconsumption of the world’s population demands, fast fashion and planned obsolescence. Everything that we consume leaves a print… Fortunately we can all do something about it, even if it’s a small change it can have a big positive impact.

Based and inspired on the movements and theories of Zero Waste and Circular Economy, we want to promote a more ethical consumption and reuse/repurpose habits. And then we will add new value to waste, through refurbishing, art and creativity, in a sort of ‘Fab-Lab’ or ‘Makerspace’. We will give ‘waste’ a SECOND CHANCE to be useful, and also give a second chance to the world. We want to share with you different ways of being more autonomous and empower you into making more things on your own, and that together we can have a positive impact in the environment: less use of natural resources, less carbon emissions, support to animals rights and well-being, less waste in dumpsters…

Our partners

For the good development of the project, we have our partners in this adventure, who since the begining have been very engaged and supportive!

  • Associazione Kora (Italy)
  • EKO – Entrepreneurship and Social Economy Group (Greece)
  • Dansk ICYE (Denmark)

Our local partners and donnors

We thank all the industries and organizations that are supporting our project by collaborating with the donation of materials for our laboratory of creation. Thanks to them, we are able to build and create new things, and the volunteers have the chance to learn new manual competences and apply their creativity.

Our volunteers

Hi, I am Amandine, 23 and I come from France. I studied psychology for 3 years and now I want to travel around the world while volunteering for different human and environmental topics. This is for me the best way to connect with nature and people. That gives me the opportunity to learn about life, and myself in a peaceful and useful way.

Hello friends! I’m Anastasia, I come from Greece and I am 20 years old. I study social anthropology in Athens and I work as a coach assistant in gymnastics. I applied to this program, because for me it appeared as the perfect opportunity on perfect timing to escape from my daily life. These 2 months are going to be time with myself, working on me while connecting with nature. First week past by really fast. I met some amazing people and I already learned some really interesting things about sustainability and no waste. As it seems, it’s going to be an amazing 2-month experience!

Hi! My name is Chris. I am 22 years old. I am from Greece.  I study medicine. I want to practice alternative medicine. In order to do that, I have to be close to nature. That’s why I  applied for this program. I also want to contribute to a more sustainable future based on respect for the environment.

Mi name is Eleonora, I’m 27 years old, from Italy. I chose this project because I’d like to improve my communication and sustainability skills and the knowledge about it.

During this first week I’ve met many inspiring people and I’ve already learn new sustainable way of living. I’m eager to know what I’ll learn next!

My name is Ksenia and I am happy to have this opportunity here in the camping to connect to myself through the smell of rain, eyes of the donkeys; colors of the vegetation trees flowers ; through light of the people and their knowledge; through the sounds of the wind and birds; spicy cuisine; physical work and creative moments; through touching the ground, the dough, the animals’ skin.

Hello, I’m Linus, I’m 21 years old and I left the city of Aarhus in Denmark for Camping Le Belvedere because of an encroaching anxiety about the industrialized destruction of the natural world and a gripping sense of my own complicity in it. I hope to find a way to live with a clear conscience.

Hello! I am Louise a curious and emerging girl by the world, nature and people. I came here to discover new ways of living, closer to the environment and Humans. I have just arrived a week ago in this beautiful and enriching place where everyone is happy to transmit her knowledge. In just 1 week, I have already acquired basics in botany, ukulele and English! I can not wait to start the eco-construction and learn more about each person who shares my daily life!

Γεια σας! My name is Mary I am 21, currently studying medicine in Greece. On my free time I enjoy working out, practicing yoga and dancing. I also needed to meet people and to share with people from abroad, which is normally not possible because of the pandemic. Here, I feel free and among a lot of very good people that I already love from the deepest part of my heart. These two months will be a very good experience for me and I know I will have a lot of good memories!
