Volunteer profile: Maria Mihaescu

Hey, my name is Maria, I’m 21 years old and I live in Austria, Linz. I graduated this summer at the Institution of Higher Technical Education informatics and media technology and after 5 years of studies, I wanted to experience a big change in my life and to live another kind of lifestyle.

I love to be in nature, I am a calm person that enjoys the silence nature offers and I am very interested in ways to live a more sustainable life and living healthy. As I have read that we practice yoga, reduce plastic, have a sustainable diet, and develop skills in gardening and permaculture I immediately knew that I want to participate in the “Be Green” project. Furthermore, I could apply and deepen the knowledge that I have acquired in school like developing websites and creating content for social media to promote IDC.

After I finish this project, I want to apply the knowledge I gained here in my daily life and to start my studies in the healthcare sector. I would like to help people to become more aware of their physical and mental health including a low environmental impact.

I see this project not only as a chance to learn more but also as a chance for personal growth. Through this project, I expect to learn from others and about myself. I look forward to getting to know new people, gaining new experiences, and personally developing myself.

I also think that I have learned to appreciate the little things more through this program and to not take everything for granted this is why I am very grateful for this experience.
