Merhaba! My name is Busra, I am 22 years old and I come from Karabük in Turkey. Starting from August 2017 I do my short term EVS here for two months.
Normally, I study economics in Istanbul. I came here because I wanted to visit France and I am interested in the French culture. I also liked the idea to live in this beautiful nature with animals, such as the donkeys.
I am here to get to know myself better and explore who I am. I want to be able to explain others who I am and what makes me special. My aim is also to learn how to work in a team and learn about different cultures.
This place is really different from my current home in Istanbul. Istanbul is always busy and crowded by people, whereas this is a really calm and quiet place in the middle of green nature. Moreover, this is the first time I did manual work in my life. For me it was new to see women doing it.
At the camping I really enjoy to walk and feed the dogs and the donkeys every day. They look so happy every timeThey look so happy every time we come, which makes me feel happy too. I also like to cook for the other people in our community and see them appreciating my food. During the Youth Exchange, that we hosted, I helped a lot in the kitchen and cooking for the participants. Moreover, I was able to help with the work on the greenhouse we are building.
Here, I heard the first time about vegan food. I did not know anything about veganism before and now I even know how to cook vegan dishes. In addition I improved my English in the two months I spend here, talking to volunteers from other countries.
Well, I also learned that there are a lot of bad words in Italian, vaffanculo!
Something I discovered is that there are so many different ways of thinking in each country and person. It is what I really like about this place. The people here are so different and everyone is original, unique and somehow funny in his own way.
