Volunteer Profile: Michal Filipek

volunteer profile michal

Hello! My name is Michal, I come from Slovakia and I am 26 years old. I write this testimonial from the campsite “Le Belvedere”, located in Lastours in France. Why am I here? I will explain it in the following sentences. While studying at university, I spent 5 months in France as an Erasmus student. This program is part of Erasmus +. It was the best time of my life. I met a lot of people, I visited wonderful places and I had the opportunity to live abroad and experience a whole new adventure. After working for 2 years, I decided to look for a project with Erasmus +.

Thanks to a friend of mine, I knew that there was an opportunity to participate in various projects with EVS. It took me a long time to find a project that suited me. Finally, I found IDC’s Ethik Mind project. This project is located in a small campsite in the Cathar country, not far from the medieval city of Carcassonne. This campsite respects nature, environment and has the label « Clef vert ».

The main subjects of Ethik Mind are: to reduce the bad behaviors on our planet and to live in harmony with the animals and the plants. This corresponds to sorting and composting, to avoid waste of water and electricity. I love life in nature and I also find the issue of sustainable development more and more important for society. The Ethik Mind project then offers me to be able to participate and help on subjects that interest me, while being in a beautiful place.

During my stay, I would like to help with the organization, in order to have better consumption, by making everyday products at home. For example soap, cleaning products etc. My other goal is to help camping people better understand the idea of veganism, linked to sustainable development. But also to make workshops to inform them and show them how to cook vegan dishes.

If you are looking for a new experience, do not hesitate, try your luck with EVS. IDC will help you with pleasure!
