Hello! My name is Catalina, I am a 25-year-old girl from Madrid (Spain), I was working as a receptionist in a pharmaceutical company after finishing my degree on international studies and I decided to quit my job and come to France.
Due to covid, it was a bit hard for me to find a job of what I wanted and in the one I was, I felt that I was not investing in my future or learning anything new. I made balance about the cost of renouncing to my salary, to come here, and I thought it was worthy to come and learn a new language, be in contact with nature be more sustainable and learning new things.
Before I came I had an idea of how life was going to be here, but you never know it until you do it. I feel healthier now, there is no pollution in the air and even though I do not exercise much I am losing weight because I move all day, it is not exhausting but coming from an office the difference is huge.
I am motivated to learn about animal caring, and to spread my knowledge about international cooperation. I have always wanted to live surrounded by green and have animals as company. I feed the donkies, dance with the chickens in the morning, play ukulele to the pigs… My life here is more about routine than about doing a concrete job. Life has slowed down. I was so used to always be in a hurry in a big city like Madrid… but I feel I have my own rhythm now, I have calmed down. Even though sometimes we are a loooot of people and the kitchen can get a bit stressful is nice to share, to learn from others.
Sometimes when I am going back to my mobile home I see the stars perfectly in the sky and hear nothing around me, I just feel I am so lucky for being in a place so beautiful and in peace
From this project, I expect to meet people, do networking, find a plan for the future with a little bit more perspective, learn about permaculture and low impact life and bring it with me wherever I go next.
