Hey! It’s Esther! I’m a 23-year-old girl from Burgos (Spain), and, after getting my university degree in History and Heritage, I’m now part of the Rural Discovery project. I will be volunteering for Music’Al Sol for nine months, in collaboration with the European Solidarity Corps (ECS), and coordinated by Initiative et Developpement Citoyen (SCOP IDC) and Asociación Juvenil Almenaras, which I knew thanks to this project.
The main reason that lead me to enter was the huge variety and integrity of the offer. It could give me the opportunity to support the management of three out of four annual musical events planned, from which: the artistic creation, the environmental education, the revitalization of the rural areas, the social vindication and the cultural exchange predominate, despite different thematics. In addition, I wanted to repeat an Erasmus+ experience, as I did already back in 2018-2019. Furthermore, it is a great opportunity, because it is destined for the youth, that’s why the ESC finances the essential expenses (travel cost, food, accommodation, etc.)
At the moment we are in the process of managing all the material that we need and preparing all the promotions for the next festival, Régal Sound, that will take place from 6th to 12th September, and as a support volunteer at the Belvédère Camping in Lastours.
I mostly hope to get from this experience a wholly personal and career enrichment, not only doing my work the best I can, but also being a participant in an event with such clear principles, especially linked with ecologism, multiculturalism, equality, feminism, creativity, and art.
If you have the opportunity of being part of one of the many volunteering projects from ESC, or an Erasmus+ exchange, don’t doubt in applying, it is totally worth it, because of all you can learn and live.
